CHAKEMA
Chakema Clinton-Quintana is a passionate advocate for inclusive economic development, community leadership, and entrepreneurship. As Director of Channel, a small business center powered by Live Oak Bank, Chakema leads initiatives that support and elevate minority entrepreneurs in the Cape Fear region of North Carolina. Under her leadership, Channel has become a vital resource for small business owners seeking growth through mentorship, learning, and strategic partnerships.
With a background in banking and regulatory compliance and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Chakema combines technical assistance expertise with a deep commitment to equity and community service. She has built a culture of empathy, authenticity, and collaboration at Channel, positioning it as a catalyst for job creation and sustainable business growth.
A respected leader in Wilmington and beyond, Chakema serves on multiple boards, including the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. She is a commission member on the Commission for African American History, Board Chair of the OOPS Foundation, Treasurer of Voyage of Wilmington, and a volunteer with Prospera NC, where she serves on the grant committee supporting underserved entrepreneurs.
Chakema is a graduate of Leadership Wilmington (Class of 2022) and Leadership for Inclusive Communities (Class of 2024). She has been recognized as a WilmingtonBiz Top 100 Connector for four consecutive years (2021–2024), received the New Hanover County Equity Award for Business (2022), and was honored with the James Fullwood Award for her outstanding commitment to the community.
A proud member of the Beta Sigma Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Chakema is also a devoted mother of four and grandmother of four. Her work is driven by purpose, service, and the belief that inclusive leadership builds stronger communities for all.
